Bracelet MACH 2 L-Birds "Back to Normandy Edition"

To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the D-Day Landings, Aéro-Design pays tribute to L-BIRDS, mythical and legendary aircraft.

Light and sturdy, they landed on rough trails, in fields, small roads and even on beaches. These liaison planes provided rapid transport for personnel and sensitive equipment. They also served as an aerial observation platform to regulate artillery fire, as well as aerial photos to fuel intelligence. It is also thanks to them that the concept of medical evacuation has developed considerably.

On June 6, 1944, the first L-Birds planes were engaged in Normandy. A patrol of five Piper L-4s, crossed the Channel under the orders of American lieutenant Dave Condon (aboard his Stinson L-5). They landed at Saint-Martin-de-Varreville (Utah Beach): this patrol of six L-Birds was the first to land Allied planes on Norman soil.

The L-Birds accompanied the advance of the troops until the end of the war. While the fighters and bombers were repatriated to their countries of origin, these small planes were left behind and used for the training of thousands of post-war pilots. Very few are today preserved or restored to their original condition.

Passionate and collectors, keen on history and aviation, this edition is limited to 75 copies.
